Global Service
From the very beginning, God has been about making himself known to all people in all the world. This is why the call of God’s people, first with Israel and then with the Church, has always been to bring message of God’s redemption and love for a broken world to all people. At All Souls we seek to live out this calling within our church, our neighborhoods, and around Decatur. But we also look for ways to be involved in what God is doing around the world knowing that the Kingdom of God is advancing across the globe.
We do this by going on trips to experience what the church is doing across the globe but also by caring for and supporting people in our church who go out to the far reaches of the world. We do this financially both as a church and as individuals. Yet it doesn’t stop there. We also look to support them through prayer, through resourcing, and through notes and gifts that simply let them know that we care.
Who do we support and why?
We look to partner with missionaries that are:
Church-centered - we believe that God primarily works in and through local churches that are committed to making his Word and Kingdom known. Therefore, we look to partner with missionaries and agencies that are building vibrant, healthy, multiplying churches led by people from those communities.
Equipping Local Leadership - we believe that people who are part of a community, who know the language and know culture are more able to communicate the Gospel than any outsider will ever be. It is vital for missionaries to train and equip local leaders so the diversity of God’s Kingdom may truly be expressed.
Holistic - we believe that the whole person: spiritual, emotional, physical, is broken and in need to redemption. It is often true that God’s message of grace and love is most clearly spoken when physical and emotional brokenness is treated alongside the spiritual. Thus we seek partnership with people and organizations that bring the message of redemption to all aspects of our brokenness.
Connected to our Community - we believe that part of our commitment as a church is to support those people connected to our worshiping community who feel called to serve God in cross-cultural settings. It is vitality important that we financially, prayerfully, and emotionally support those from our community called to this work so we at ASF primarily focus our energy and resources toward those connected to us.
