Opportunities: Open Door Community
The Open Door Community serves homeless people in Atlanta. They are a residential community seeking to create the Beloved Community on Earth through a loving relationship with some of the most neglected and outcast of God's children: the homeless and our sisters and brothers who are in prison. Volunteer Opportunities Include:
- helping serve breakfast on Monday and Tuesday mornings (5:45 to 9:30 am)
- working in the Soup Kitchen on Wednesday mornings (9am to 12:30pm)
- cooking or bringing supper for the Community on selected Mondays thru Thursdays
- and more.
- Groups are also need to make and bring sandwiches to distribute in the Soup Kitchen and in the evenings.
- There is also a need for specific items: soup, hams, turkeys, grits, cheese, and multi-vitamins, clothing (especially men's jeans, T-shirts, underwear, socks, coats, and shoes, particularly sizes 12 and larger), blankets, toiletries, stamps, towels, and MARTA tokens. We can receive donations Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
