High School: Mission Memphis

Memphis, Tennessee, is a beautiful city, full of culture, music, and art. Known as the Home of the Blues, it’s also had its share of hardships. Students will learn how the church is responding to end the cycle of poverty in very real ways.

Our team will serve in a variety of local ministries, ranging from a kids’ outreach ministry to a rescue mission. Students will also get the opportunity to explore the city during the Mission Race, a downtown team-based competitive learning experience. We hope that you will join us for this week away in Memphis!

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross

One of the practices developed by the early Christian pilgrims was that of visiting Jerusalem and walking the traditional route from the location of Pilate’s house to Golgotha, meditating upon the actions of Jesus and events the gospel writers describe leading up to his crucifixion. This became known as walking the “way of the cross” (also known as stations of the cross).

Through the work of artist and All Souls member, Dean Landers, we invite you to experience the stations of the cross during Holy Week.

ASF Women at The Intown Retreat

ASF Women at The Intown Retreat

Join us for an afternoon of contemplation and embodied practices at The Intown Retreat. Our time together will include a teaching from Claudia Lewis on learning to embrace our bodies, a nourishing yoga class (no prior yoga experience necessary!), time for reflection and prayer, and the opportunity to try out sauna/cold plunge. We’ll also have light refreshments and time for fellowship.

We recognize that Lent is a time of removing obstacles, creating space and of letting go of things that keep us from God. But often it is hard to even find the time to step away and consider where we might need more space, and often our own negative self-perception or disembodied living can be a distraction from the life God is calling us to. Take a few hours to reconnect with your body and soul in order to better hear God’s will for this Lenten season and beyond.

The Intown Retreat is a brand new yoga studio and day spa in downtown Decatur whose mission is to cultivate a holistic, inclusive sanctuary where wellness, community, and self-care intersect. They hold a deep belief that true wellness is found in connection — to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

When we practice these fasts, we can discover answers to deeper questions about our true hunger. As we fast from being strong, holding it all together, and seeking certainty, we can softly reorient ourselves toward that which nourishes and fulfills us, for the reflective Lenten season and beyond.

Evening Prayer & Lament

Evening Prayer & Lament

“The absence of lament in the liturgy of the American Church results in the loss of memory.” - Soong-Chan Rah.

The first months of 2025 have left many in our community and our world feeling disoriented. In such times, Scripture’s prophetic witness points us toward the practices of fasting and lament. Lament challenges us to acknowledge real suffering and to carry our pain and sorrow to God. Fasting is pleading with our bodies for God to intervene.

Join us for a time of worship, fasting, liturgy, and group prayer as we carry our laments to God during this season of Lent in preparation for the hope of Easter.

Everyone is invited to participate whether you are fasting or not.

Lenten EvenPsalm

Join us for a special “Lent Edition” of our monthly women’s EvenPsalm gathering. Like always, we’ll spend contemplative time with Scripture and prayer, focusing this month on the Lenten practice of releasing things in our lives that keep us from God. By letting go of things that are depleting, we are able to make more space to embrace what is life-giving and to nourish our true hunger. We hope you’ll join us for an evening of exploration, discussion, and encouragement.
