About Membership
To be a member of a church is to make a public promise to live according to biblical teachings and to support the mission and ministry of the church. In the Bible, this is called a covenant. Biblically speaking, such covenants are the basis for all of society. Marriage and citizenship, for example, are relationships of accountability.

Of course, many of the benefits of a vital church are available to anyone who attends. But there is a rationale for membership.
Briefly, Members have the benefit of accountability to the elders, the spiritual leaders, (Hebrews 13:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13) authority to shape the ministry of the church, the benefit of having their children baptized, and access to more leadership opportunities.
If you decide to be involved with All Souls without membership, there will be no pressure to join. Do not join unless you are ready to be committed.
However, we do believe that church membership is a biblical concept and, if All Souls is to be your “home” church, we hope that you will prayerfully consider becoming a member.

Should you choose to become a member, you would be expected to:
Profess the exclusive lordship of Christ as your Savior.
To the best of your ability, live a life of Biblical purity and holiness, seeking to bring honor to Christ.
Live a life of repentance and faith (because none of us do #2 perfectly!).
Actively use your spiritual gifts in service to the church and to our city.
Intentionally and faithfully share your resources according to the Biblical guidelines of the tithe.
Promise to uphold the purity and peace of the church by seeking to apply the truth and grace of Christ in every facet of your life.

Here are the steps to becoming a member:
Attend all parts of the upcoming membership seminars or classes.
Fill in Membership Paperwork (available when you sign up for the membership seminars or classes).
Complete interview with an elder or ASF staff member (these are set up during the membership seminar or classes).
And then, take vows before the congregation during one of the worship services. This short ceremony is usually scheduled during the Membership Seminar or Classes, based on a Sunday which works best with the church calendar and for all of the candidates.
