Juneteenth Faith & Freedom Gathering
Atlanta Westside Presbyterian Church Atlanta, GA
Friday, June 19 • 6 PM - 8:30 PM
Overview
Juneteenth at 250: celebrate freedom, confront hard truths, and explore faith, history, and justice through film, dialogue, and action.
Join us this Juneteenth as OneRace Movement and AND Campaign come together to commemorate freedom, deepen understanding, and mobilize the Church toward justice and reconciliation.
As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we are confronted with competing stories about who we are. One story celebrates American exceptionalism. Another tells the truth about delayed freedom, unfinished justice, and voices long unheard. Juneteenth sits at the intersection of these narratives, inviting us not to choose one over the other, but to wrestle honestly with both.
This gathering will center on the powerful story of Juneteenth through a screening of Rasool Berry’s Juneteenth documentary, paired with meaningful dialogue and reflection with the producer himself. More than a moment of remembrance, this evening is an invitation to tell a truer story and to move forward together.
