Creating Space to Belong Capital Campaign: Hospitality

We're launching a Capital Campaign to raise $750,000 in pledges by September 28, 2025.

Over the years, we’ve modestly approached facility upgrades, prioritizing financial resources for ministry and mission. However, with New Street’s ongoing development and increasing traffic, we believe it's time to reinvest in our building’s long-term health and hospitality.

We long to be a community for our community, and these improvements will help us increase hospitality, safety, and accessibility for years to come. God has entrusted us with a beautiful space in a growing part of our city. Each of these projects reflects our longstanding commitment to reflect God’s heart for welcoming others.

This is more than a renovation—it’s the continuation of the story God is telling through All Souls: a story of faithfulness, generosity, and hope.

Read this reflection by All Souls member, Shay Dowley:

Henri Nouwen often wrote about hospitality as a deeply spiritual practice, especially in Reaching Out (1975). For Nouwen, being a hospitable host is not about impressing guests or controlling the environment—it’s about creating space for the other to be fully themselves.

Hospitality is at the heart of Christendom, reflecting the love, compassion and the welcoming nature of Christ. It is far more than a warm smile, a comfortable chair or a kind greeting at the door—it is the intentional creation of an environment where people feel valued, seen, and truly safe. As a church, we believe that we are called to be a place where everyone, regardless of race, cultural background or circumstance, knows they belong.

When we intentionally create a space for belonging, we mirror the heart of Christ, who welcomed all into His presence without conditions. We become a community where fear gives way to trust, aloneness gives way to connection, and strangers become friends. In practicing such hospitality, the church becomes a living picture of God’s Kingdom—a home with room for everyone to sit at the table.
