Becoming Love: How Worship Forms Imagination
We become what we behold.
When we think of “worship,” we often imagine an emotional experience; be it a moving song, the thrill of being part of a crowd, or the rush of being swept into something larger than ourselves. Those moments can be powerful, but worship runs much deeper than emotion. It’s not a matter of engineering the right music, the right room, and the right atmosphere to produce a particular feeling. At its heart, worship is about giving our attention, affection, and allegiance to someone or something we believe is ultimately worthy. When we worship, we aren’t merely saying, “This moves me.” We are saying, “This deserves my trust. This is what my life will revolve around.”
Together over the next six weeks, we will explore worship not simply as something we do on Sunday mornings, but as a practice that retrains our desires, exposes the false stories that compete for our allegiance, and reorients our imaginations toward the kingdom of God. Week by week, we will discover how worship forms us into people who look more and more like the One we adore.
