Small Group Ministry
The primary way for you to get connected at All Souls Fellowship is through a Community Group. Our ongoing goal is for everyone who is a part of our fellowship to be involved in a Community Group.
Some groups meet weekly, while others meet a couple of times a month. Wherever you are in life and whatever you are looking for, we probably have a group to fit you.
Core Values of Small Groups:
Gospel Community. The gospel creates a new community. Growth in the Christian life cannot happen apart from significant, encouraging, face-to-face Christian relationships. The Bible assumes a substantial community life among the people of God.
Gospel Change. The gospel is the only power to transform lives. Community Groups are the front line of pastoral care in the church. They exist to apply the gospel to both seekers and Christians, through worship, Bible study, sharing, prayer, and mission.
Gospel Movement. The most strategic role in the church is a skilled group leader. Lay group leaders, coordinators, and directors fulfill the role of the general office of believers. Ongoing support is crucial to help leaders do their jobs well. Community Groups are committed to multiplying by developing apprentice leaders and encouraging the start of new groups.
Purpose of Small Groups:
Five things that small groups are designed to do:
Provide a place to get to know other people and to be known by them through regular gatherings and fellowship.
Provide a small community of people who care for one another in good times and bad – encouraging and looking out for one another through life’s twists and turns.
Provide a group of people who will hold one another accountable as disciples of Jesus – teaching and challenging one another through Bible and book study.
Provide opportunities to serve the church and the community with group projects and advocacies.
Provide a place to worship God in authentic and personal ways recognizing that we are on this journey together.
Finding a Group:
In his promise to Abraham, God said, “I will be your God and you will be my people.” That promise was brought to fullness in the Gospel of Christ. But, God didn’t call us to be his people just so we can worship him and enjoy each other. Rather, he calls us to be his people, “in order to be a blessing to the nations.” In other words, we are called to be conduits of the beauty and grace of Jesus to our world. Every Christian is called to this and it is essential to the process of growing into a mature follower of Christ. This is why we encourage all of our folks to “find their ministry” on one of our Ministry Teams. In doing so, you will be given the opportunity to live out the love of Christ with others in our Church, our City, and our World.
